What's new in the app

• The app no longer signs you out when there is no signal — at the apiary there is often no coverage, and that was exactly when the app used to ask you to log in again. In a place where you cannot even open your e-mail if you have forgotten your password. It now opens normally, with the readings from the last report, and a bar at the top tells you the network is down. When the signal returns, press “Try again” and everything refreshes.
• You stay signed in longer — as long as you use the app at least once a year, you never have to type your password again.

• Share a scale with someone — you cannot get to the apiary but somebody else is there? In the scale settings create a six-character code and send it to them. They enter it in their own app and from then on they can watch your scale. A guest can only look: they cannot change anything, they do not see the SIM card details, and their access expires on its own after 7 or 30 days. You can revoke it sooner. Notifications about that scale reach them too — if they have been asked to keep an eye on the hive, they are the ones who should get the alarm, not just you.
• Anti-theft protection — for scales with GPS. The Lock location button tells the scale to remember the spot where it now stands as its own; from then on it measures how far it has moved and reports as soon as it crosses the boundary. You set how often it checks and how many times in a row it must be outside the circle before the alarm. On a scale without GPS the box is not shown.
• The alarm repeats until you acknowledge it — if your scale is taken during the night, a single notification is easily slept through. So the alarm arrives again after 1, 5, 15 and 60 minutes, and the last one also by e-mail. The Acknowledge button stops the ringing; the alarm itself stays until the scale is back in its place. On a shared scale it is enough for one person to acknowledge it. A movement alarm also carries a button that opens the map at the place where the scale was when it reported.
• Bluetooth setup of the scale, straight from the app — until now this needed a separate BLE app and picking UUIDs by hand. It is now a screen inside the app, a new icon between Scales and Profile. The app recognises the scale by itself and offers buttons for every command, grouped by job: weighing, network and server, auxiliary devices, anti-theft protection. Service commands ask for a code — the last six digits of the IMEI from the label — so that the wrong scale is not touched by accident.
• Full-screen chart — turn the phone and the chart takes up the whole screen, with values written beside the points and a time axis below, just like in the portal. The button is next to the chart title.
• Six lines instead of three — besides weight, humidity and inside temperature, the chart now also shows outside temperature, temperature in the hive and the battery. A line for a sensor that is not connected is not drawn — no more flat line at zero squashing everything else.
• Chart legend in landscape — moved to the right of the chart, into a narrow column along the very edge, with shorter labels. The chart is noticeably wider than before.
• Choosing hours in minute-by-minute readings — in the per-minute view, after the date you also choose from which hour to which. One day is 1440 points and nothing can be seen on the chart; this way you single out the window you care about, say what happened between 6 and 10 in the morning.
• Notifications are recognisable at a glance — the type of notification is written in capitals, in a colour that says what is asked of you: red means go now, orange means check, blue is equipment and subscription, green is good news, black is a report. The name of the scale is underneath. Notifications are grouped by scale and can be deleted.
• Sensors appear under their own scale — if a scale has additional sensors or scales attached, they now show right in the list, indented under the main scale and joined by a line. Previously they only appeared once you opened the scale.
• Share a reading to Viber, WhatsApp or Facebook — a button on the current-status card sends a picture with the weight, temperature and the other readings exactly as they are on screen, with the name of the scale and the date underneath.
• Tare can be negative — when the total weight is below zero, after zeroing or removing a super, the tare that cancels it is negative too. Previously the minus could not even be typed. Automatic tare now also works on scales that report by e-mail.
• The battery type is kept on the account — it used to live only in the phone, so the battery percentage differed from the one in the portal. Now it is one and the same everywhere.
• Login and registration in the phone's language — the app remembers the language you chose, so the messages on the login screen are in that language too, even when the phone itself is set to another.
• A clearer bottom bar — Bluetooth, Scales and Profile are more clearly separated, and where you currently are is marked in colour. The Beekeeping Diary now has its name next to the icon.
• Fixed — three things did not work although they looked as if they did: revoking access to a shared scale, deleting all notifications, and acknowledging an alarm. Because of the third, the alarm kept repeating to the end even when you had acknowledged it. On newer Android phones the Bluetooth screen no longer closes by itself on opening.

This release was finished but never went to the stores. Everything done in it — scale sharing, the full-screen chart, six lines, the Bluetooth screen, sharing a reading — was published in version 2.5.0. If you are looking for this version in the store, it is not there and you do not need it: 2.5.0 contains all of it.

• Evening report at 8 p.m. — a notification with the weight at 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., the daily yield, the 24-hour difference, the lowest and highest temperature of the day and the state of the battery and the signal.
• Browsing through readings — in the “Latest reading” box swipe left for earlier readings, right to go back to the last one. An older reading also says how much it changed compared with the one before it.
• Notification history — in the profile and on the scale page. Everything that reached you in the last 7 days, even if it was cleared from the phone's notification bar. Messages we send you from support are now there as well.
• A notification opens in a full window — tapping a message opens the whole text, legibly. Only two lines fit in the phone's notification bar, and the evening report has several numbers.
• The Beekeeping Diary in one tap — an icon on the home screen leads straight into the diary, already signed in, without typing the password again.
• A fuller forecast — alongside the temperatures there are now the probability of rain, the air humidity and the strongest wind. When it rains or blows there are no flights and no intake — so you also know why the scale has stalled.
• The notification icon in the phone's bar is no longer a grey square.
• The profile shows which version of the app you have, with the list of changes.
• Translations completed in all eleven languages — no more words left in English.
• All communication with the server now goes encrypted (HTTPS).
• The login is kept in the phone's secure storage.
• Faster and tidier behaviour on a weak network.
